A reference to carpet cleaning services includes any associated treatment agreed in writing or verbally, such as pre-inspection, spot treatment, deodorising, or protection application. These terms are intended to work alongside any written quotation, service description, or invoice issued to you.

All other matters will continue to be governed by these terms. Booking Process

Bookings can be made by telephone, email, online enquiry, message, or any other method we make available from time to time. When you request a service from Cockfosters Carpet Cleaners, you must provide accurate information about the property, the size and type of the items or areas to be cleaned, access conditions, parking restrictions, the presence of pets, and any known stains, contamination, or damage. Our quotation is based on the information you give us, and if the information is incomplete or incorrect, we may revise the price, alter the scope of work, or decline to proceed.

Once you accept a quotation or otherwise confirm a booking, you enter into a contract with us subject to these terms. We may ask for a deposit or advance payment to secure the appointment, especially for large jobs, commercial work, or peak-period services. A booking is only confirmed once we have acknowledged it and, where applicable, received any required deposit. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel a booking where the requested service is outside our normal scope, where there is a safety concern, or where we reasonably believe the service cannot be completed to a satisfactory standard.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the property is ready for the appointment. This includes moving fragile items, securing valuables, ensuring clear access to the work area, and advising us of any surfaces that are delicate, non-colourfast, or previously damaged. We may refuse to move heavy furniture, electrical items, or other objects that could be unsafe to handle. If our team is delayed because access is unavailable, parking is impossible, or the site is not prepared, additional charges may apply or the appointment may need to be rearranged.

Service Delivery and Customer Duties

Some marks, odours, or discolouration may be permanent or may only improve rather than disappear completely. Where appropriate, we may conduct a small test area before proceeding with the main clean. You agree to disclose any special instructions, manufacturer guidance, or prior damage before work begins.

Our technicians may stop or modify the work if they discover that the surface is unsuitable for the requested treatment, if the risk of damage is higher than expected, or if the cleaning method chosen is likely to produce poor results. We will try to discuss options with you where possible, but the final decision on whether a method is safe and appropriate rests with us. If you ask us to proceed against our advice, you do so at your own risk and we may require a written waiver before continuing.

You must ensure that children, pets, and unauthorised persons are kept away from the work area during the service and while treated areas are drying. You should follow any aftercare instructions we provide, including ventilation, restricted use, and timing before furniture is returned to cleaned carpets. Failure to follow aftercare guidance may affect the final result and may limit or remove any claim you make about the quality of the service.

Payments

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due immediately on completion of the service. We may accept payment by card, bank transfer, cash, or other methods stated at the time of booking. Any invoice must be paid in full by the due date shown. Where a deposit has been taken, it will usually be deducted from the final amount due, unless the deposit is forfeited in accordance with these terms.

All quoted prices are based on the information available at the time of booking and may be subject to change if the actual work differs from what was described. Additional charges may apply for extra rooms, larger than expected areas, heavy soiling, difficult access, urgent call-outs, parking charges, waiting time, or special treatments requested on site. Where a revised price is necessary, we will explain the reason before additional work is undertaken where reasonably possible. If you decline the revised price, we may stop the service and charge for work already carried out.

You must pay all sums due without set-off, deduction, or counterclaim unless required by law. If payment is not made on time, we reserve the right to charge interest on overdue sums at the statutory rate and recover reasonable costs incurred in obtaining payment. Title to any goods we supply, if applicable, will remain with us until full payment has been received.

Cancellations, Rescheduling, and No-Shows

You may cancel or rearrange your booking by giving us reasonable notice. If you cancel with sufficient notice, any deposit may be refunded or transferred to a new appointment at our discretion, unless we have already incurred non-recoverable costs. If you cancel at short notice, particularly after we have allocated time, staff, materials, or travel to your appointment, we may retain some or all of the deposit or charge a cancellation fee that reflects our loss.

In those circumstances, we may charge the full or partial booking fee and recover any reasonable losses caused by the wasted appointment slot. We are not responsible for missed appointments caused by inaccurate address details, incorrect access instructions, or failure to inform us of restrictions affecting entry or parking.

We may reschedule or cancel a booking if a technician is unavailable, if weather or transport issues make attendance unsafe or impractical, if the premises present a health and safety risk, or if equipment failure prevents us from carrying out the service. Where we cancel for reasons within our control, we will offer a refund of any advance payment for the affected service or an alternative appointment, but we will not be liable for any indirect loss arising from the cancellation.

Liability and Limitations

We will perform our services with reasonable care and skill as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where applicable. If you believe we have not provided the service with reasonable care and skill, you must notify us within a reasonable time so that we can investigate. Where a genuine issue is identified, our first remedy will normally be to return and re-clean the affected area or provide an appropriate partial refund, depending on the circumstances.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept liability for pre-existing damage, hidden defects, wear and tear, unstable flooring, loose seams, colour loss, shrinkage due to age or construction, or damage caused by the natural condition of the materials being cleaned. We are also not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, public disruption, supply interruptions, illness, or equipment failure not due to our negligence.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under English law. Subject to that, our total liability for any claim connected with a particular service will be limited to the amount paid or payable for that service, except where a higher limit is required by law.

Waste Regulations and Environmental Compliance

We aim to operate in a lawful and environmentally responsible manner. Any wastewater, residue, removed debris, and cleaning by-products arising from the service will be handled in accordance with applicable UK waste regulations, environmental requirements, and local disposal rules. We may use extraction systems, containment methods, and disposal procedures designed to minimise environmental impact and prevent pollution.

Where the work produces waste that must be removed from site, we will determine the appropriate disposal method in line with our obligations and the nature of the material. You must tell us in advance if the property contains contaminated waste, bodily fluids, chemicals, mould-affected material, biohazards, or any item that requires special handling. We may refuse to handle such materials unless we are satisfied that the work can be performed safely and legally.

If we reasonably believe that the waste or residue involved is hazardous, unlawful, or unsuitable for ordinary cleaning methods, we may stop work immediately and require you to arrange specialist treatment or disposal. Any additional costs arising from unusual waste conditions, specialist containment, or legal compliance measures may be charged to you.

Complaints, Force Majeure, and General Provisions

If you are dissatisfied with any part of the service, you should inform us as soon as possible so that we can investigate and, where appropriate, attempt to resolve the issue. Evidence such as photographs, a description of the concern, and details of any aftercare followed may help us assess the matter fairly. Complaints raised long after the service may be harder to verify and may reduce the remedies available.

We may assign, subcontract, or transfer our rights and obligations under these terms where lawful and where it does not materially affect your rights. You may not transfer your booking or any rights under these terms without our written consent. If any part of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. No failure by us to enforce a term will be treated as a waiver of that term.

In the event of a force majeure event, we may suspend or cancel bookings without liability for the delay or failure caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control. This includes but is not limited to fire, flood, pandemic restrictions, acts of government, civil unrest, industrial action, and serious transport disruption. We will try to notify you promptly and offer an alternative arrangement where reasonable.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the services provided by Cockfosters Carpet Cleaners, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law requires otherwise. If you are a consumer, you may also benefit from mandatory rights under applicable UK consumer legislation that cannot be excluded by contract.

By proceeding with a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. They are intended to provide a clear and fair framework for the provision of professional carpet cleaning services, while protecting both parties and ensuring the work is carried out responsibly. If a quotation, invoice, or service note includes additional terms, those should be read together with this document. Together they form the agreement between you and us for the relevant service.
